It was great to meet and know a very cool guy
and an amazing musician : Guy Barker. He came to
Casablanca in a recording project. ( see
interview ) The Sunday's jammers were
delighted to play with him and share great moments
of music.
Born in Chiswick, West London, the british trumpeter
Guy Barker played with Dizzy Gillespie, John Dankworth,
Ornette Coleman ("Skies of America"), the visiting
Gil Evans, Chris Hunter, Mike Westbrook, Carla Bley
and Clark Tracey. His credits as a session musician
include Sting, Quincy Jones, George Benson, Grace
Jones. Award as Best Trumpeter at the British Jazz
Awards. He performed in the orchestra supporting
Frank Sinatra on three tours and he has also accompanied
a number of other major voices - Mel Torme, Liza
Minnelli and Cleo Laine among others. In 1986 Guy
Barker was nominated for an All Music Award.

The
Guy Barker latest album Soundtrack
is presented in two parts in a same CD and about
part II Guy says:"...after
I had composed an album's worth of material, I decided
to write something inspired by my love of classic
films from the forties and the fifties..."
